Registration of Birth

In Ontario the registration of birth for babies born as a result of surrogacy is now an out of court process. Additionally, Ontario law now allows up to four persons to be registered as parents to a baby. 

While it is common practice at many hospitals across the province to assist with the registration for OHIP days after baby's birth. The parents of baby born as a result of surrogacy is not immediately eligible to be registered and so registration may have to be done at Service Ontario.
